Lockdown Legends of Sports and Physical Activity
Kindly sponsored by
Due to the ongoing CV-19 situation and the inability of some sports to deliver locally in the past year we have decided not to deliver our traditional ‘Sports Awards’. All last year’s winners will hold the trophy for another year; and we will look to reintroduce the full range of categories when delivery is maximised and inclusive.
As a short-term measure and to recognise people / groups who have gone above and beyond during lockdown we are going to hold the ‘Lockdown Legends of Sport and Physical Activity’ awards. We shall showcase five winners across the week beginning the 22nd March 2021 with their achievement.
These awards are open to all and examples of what you could nominate for, include;
Thank someone or a sports club/organisation/school for their support or recognise and celebrate their hard work during the pandemic
Has your gym instructor gone online and delivered a Zumba, Pilates, or karate class via Zoom?
Has your sports team coach set online challenges to keep players fit and motivated?
Has someone you know helped an older person keep active by regularly joining them on a socially distanced walk?
Perhaps you know someone who has helped get their sports club started again once restrictions were lifted?
Does your school have its very own ‘Joe Wicks’ inspirational PE teacher or have you as an individual taken up a new sport and got the family to join in?
Has a group or an individual completed a virtual challenge and raised funds for a local charity?
Someone you know kept your club / group motivated with online challenges, quizzes, etc
Your club was successful in obtaining some funding to provide emergency relief and recovery
Nominate Your Legend
Nominations are open until 24 March 2021. The awards are open to all residents of the Scarborough Borough.
